Description

BP is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team dedicated to promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across our operations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, minimizing environmental impact, and fostering a safe working environment for our employees and contractors.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections, audits, and assessments at BP facilities.
  • Develop and implement safety and environmental management systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update safety and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide training and support to employees and contractors on safety and environmental best practices.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop root cause analysis reports.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to safety and environmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and permits.
  • Participate in emergency response and preparedness activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental health and safety roles, preferably in the energy or petrochemical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in environmental health and safety roles.
  • Experience in the energy or petrochemical industry is a plus.
  • Proven track record of implementing safety and environmental programs.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
