Description
We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at Rio Tinto Group, a leading global mining and metals company. Responsibilities
- Mining Planning: Develop and implement mining plans that optimize ore extraction, waste management, and resource utilization.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure mining operations adhere to safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct geological assessments, ore reserve calculations, and production forecasting to support business decisions.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control mining costs while maximizing operational efficiency.
- Equipment Utilization: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure mining equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Environmental Stewardship: Promote sustainable mining practices and contribute to environmental impact assessments.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior mining engineers and technicians.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to build positive relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining engineering.
- Proficiency in mining software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight).
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in open-pit or underground mining operations.
- Proven track record in mining project management.
- Experience with resource estimation, mine design, and production scheduling.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
Skills
- Proficient in mine planning and design software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
